GO! Diabetes was founded in 2008 by the Georgia and Oklahoma chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Since its inception, the program has expanded to encompass all 50 states. Funded by an educational grant by sanofi, GO! Diabetes seeks to make strides in the way people with diabetes are educated and cared for in family medicine.
Building upon the unprecedented success of past years, the 2011-2012 GO! Diabetes program is expanded to include 60 family medicine residency programs and private practices nationwide.
